IB ACIO II exam 2012 notification

Hey Folks,


How are you all doing buddies........Addidng to exam season, IB ACIO II 2012 exam notification is out too. Fortunately my dad is working in Intelligence Beaureo as a Addittional Director currently, so I am having a bit of knowledge about the Job.Hereith I am mentioning the important dates and other information below. If you do have any querries related to it, Kindly pen it down. I will certainly be answering it at the appropriate time.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA's) had issued the Notification for the Recruitment of 750 Assistant Central Intelligence Officers (ACIO's) in the Intelligence Bureau Department.In our previous posts, we have discussed in Detail the application procedure for submitting the Online Application for Intelligence Bureau Recruitment 2012 and Now in this post we will discuss in detail the Syllabus and Exam Pattern for ACIO Exam 2012.
Always Remember:

Last Date to apply Online is : 19th August, 2012

Date of the Written Examination: 23rd Sept, 2012

Intelligence Bureau Exam Pattern for ACIO Exam


The Exam Pattern of Intelligence Bureau ACIO Exam 2012 shall consist of Written test that is both Objective as well as subjective in nature.The Paper-I will be objective and Paper-II will be subjective.The Descriptive Paper (Paper-II) is basically the test of English Language.The total duration of both the Papers ie Paper-I and Paper-II is 1 Hour and 40 minutes

Intelligence Bureau Exam Syllabus 2012


As mentioned above, the scheme of the Intelligence Bureau Exam is Objective Paper and Descriptive Paper.So here is the Detailed Syllabus of what is the composition of the Objective and Descriptive tests.

  • Objective Test: The Objective test consists of sections such as General Awareness, General Knowledge, English language, Reasoning and Mathematical Aptitude.In this section, Multiples choice Questions (MCQ's) are asked depending upon the these sections.
  • Descriptive test: The Descriptive is nothing but it is basically the test of English Language Writing Skills. In this section, it is expected that students may be asked to write an Essay, Letter of any given theme or topic.

    Hi,

    I wanna apply for ACIO grade2. But I just wanna know some information about promotions in IB. Like how many years will it take to get promoted to grade 1 or so (I mean to the next higher level). I also heard that there is a bond for 3 years.Is this true.

    If there is a bond is it possible to take UPSC xam for Deputy Central Intelligence Officer while in ACIO 2.(I mean to shuffle within IB).

    Please do provide information for my queries. I am very interested in working for IB.

    Hiiiii anil.Thanx for ur comment.....promotion for first time takes normal time of 4-5yrs. Bond wise I will confirm u tomorrow after confirming it frm my dad as he is Addittional director in IB. Meanwhile u can apply 4 other posts within IB....u will b going on deputationnnn basissssssssss...........plus u can applyyy 4 all other govt jobs alsooooooo

      Dear Rakesh,

      If You have got shortlisted throught the Interview, then IB will have a verification check which You will come to know at the time when they visit your house/Society/College. If you clear that, then you will be getting a Joining Letter and rest of the things will be made clear after that. That means if you are going for training immediately or first you have to join at your post. Meanwhile this complete process takes a bit of time. So this is the time for you to wait and watch.

      Hello Anuj, The ACIO II is promoted to ACIO I and then he becomes a DCIO, DCIO is a Gazzetted officer. It takes 8-14yrs of time to get promoted to that level depending upon the performance. After that a DCIO is promoted to AD(Addittional Director Level) which is an esteemed post. Many people retire at this stage and a few cross this stage to become a JDD(Joint Deputy Director).

      I hope you are now clear with the heirarchy.

      Increment is there as per govt norms as it is Central government Job and not the State govt one. Everyyear you will be getting hike depending upon the inflation plus there will be hike in your salary at the time of promotions. Incentives are also there in IB provided you do something extra-ordinary. G

    Muddassir Hasan Choudhary: There are powers of ACIO2 but not to that extent which you will be enjoying 10 years down the line. Once you become a DCIO(ACIO2 -- ACIO1 -- DCIO--AD--JDD - Normal IB Career Heirarchy If you dont get deputed to some other department like SPG or CRPF or some other police force), You will excercise a huge power. Also DCIO is a gazzetted officer.
    2) Transfers: Initially you do not have any say but after you get a transfer for risky areas like J&K or Assam/Sikkim, you get transfer for your hometown or the place you want.
    3) Salary: Salary is decent one -- Non Metros also you will get 22-25K in-hand. Metros it may reach till 30K
    4) Kind of Job: It is a Intelligence Job. Depends which department do you get. Millitants/Terrorist or Political one, there r many others.

      Questions are entirely Based Upon Current Awareness. Apart from it Personal questions Like Why you want to Join IB etc questions are asked. Just keep yourself updated and read newsppaper on day to day basisss

      Risk Wise.....Phani.....In Plain Areas....there is not much risk....but everyone has to spend two tenures in border or Maoists areas....which is usually for 2-3years both the times.

      Yes You can.....Even You can write different other exams. Meanwhile Deputations are also there in IB. So You may be deputed to different forces Like CRPF or SPG or Airport Protection Unit. Apart from it ACIO 1 is the next rank which u will be promoted automatically after completing ur tenure as ACIO 2

      Dear Balasubrammanian, First of All, Congratulations to you as your hardship has payed off finally. Secondly the answer of your question: There is no specific time frame at a particular designation, depends upon the marks scored by you in the training, the Marks scored by you in the exam which you have already cleared, your Day-to-day performance and your caste also. there are people who get promoted to ACIO I with-in 3-5years, on the other hand there are people who have cleared that step in more than 10-12 years too. It is a government Job. Hikes in salary will be there annually on the basis of Inflation and all but Promotions are very uncertain. But according to your age, You may easily reach till DD or even you may reach till JD as you are too young. Most of the people retire at the stage of AD or JDD. Few reach till DD, and even fewer reach to further levels.

      Dear Bala, Police Verification happens suddenly....You will not get a clue when they will e doing it....They even go to your School/college at times to take a feedback about you. You may mention your location, because if it is in Uttar Pradesh, I may help you out to a certain point as my DaD is in IB only. It is just to verify your credentials and there is not anything to worry about. By the time your verification gets over, you will be getting the Joining details. Training may happen after a certain time as it depends upon the batch. Batch might start after a few months. So you will be getting your first posting first and then training will be conducted later. Your joining might start with training too and posting can be given later depending upon the urgency and human resource requirement in any particular location

      Leaves-Wise....it is not very strict....it is as per Govt norms.............You will get enough leaves in a year and options are also there to save your leaves and get it converted into one month salary....Choice is yourssss

    First of all, thanks for the wonderful job you are doing by giving information to aspiring candidates in your blog.

    I want to join the IB or RAW. But first, I want to know the following.
    1. Are ACIOs trained in intelligence/firearms?
    2. Do they hold guns?
    3. Is it a Field job or desk job?
    4. Can they arrest people?
    5.Do officers they have authority over other police forces?

    Please answer the questions for me. Its a big career choice and I want to be sure of what to expect.

      Dear Gopal, I will be answering your questions point wise point:
      1) ACIOs itself means Assistant Central Intelligence Officers. Ofcourse they are well trained in intelligence and different Arms training is also provided to them.

      2) They do not usually hold guns but there are few condition where in they might hold guns too(As an ex. If ACIO is deputed to SPG{Special Protection Force - Which takes care of the security of PM and other VIPs - U would have seen people in SUIT and SAFARI in PMs security} They do carry Pistols and that too of very special features.

      3) It is a Mix of field and Desk Job. Depends upon the field which is given to you. As an example if you have been given Law & Order, Then you will have to go out into field. Politics is another vertical. There are many more.

      4) They themselves can not arrest people. But they can do it with the help of local police. Police is bound to comply with them. Both of them work together at times. In border Areas IB works with Armyyyy.

      5)It is not about authority but ofcourse they have privilege over many of others. Everybody has respect for IB people. Apart from it, common people are also afraid of them.

      There are few Training centres of IB......the Main one is in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.....I am not so sure that how many more are there. Mostly get trained at Shivpuri.

      Risk Wise....As I have answered already in other replies....it depends upon the work which you get.....You might get into operational Jobs also. Risk is there in hilly areas and North-east training tenures but not to that extent as Our Soldiers(Army) people have....As IB people dont wear any uniform. So they can camouflage themselves as a comman man rather than posing as a Armed forces Personnel.

    u spoke about departmental exams and also u mentioned about other exams..can u pls shed light about tis other exams wat exactly u mean...also how frequently the departmental exams are held? are they for promotions?
    i also like to know any other direct recruitment held in IB for other higher post? I heard UPSC conducts one for DCIO but is it for executive or technical? wat is the eligibility and selection procedure

      vignesh...lot of deputation exams are there.....as I have mentioned in my earlier comments....there are even opportunities to go to foreign countries. Exams are held for SPG/CRPF/RAW and other depts. It is done on requirement basis and is not fixed upon a particular interval. As and when requirement is there. they conduct the exams. Opportunities are ample but depends upon your capabilities.

    as i have cleared the interview of IB i too have some queries, hope you'll answer them.
    1. what is the expected salary during "training period", as nothing was mentioned about it above.

    2.what is the duration of training period.is it 3 months or 6.

    3. is there any bond sign and if there is, then for how much duration and if it is broken what one have to pay.

    4. can we resign with a technical reason if i get a chance to join higher post than this in any central govt. dept., than what would be the process for N.O.C.

    Hi PP i've been selected as ACIO-I(Tech), police verification is done but what about medical fitness? Since it is a technical post wat r the possible place of posting(JR was to assist senior in R&D)?
    I have completed PhD, MSc was the required qualification will my higher qqualification help me to get promotion quicker?

    i heard that training takes place batch wise, last batch ppl get their training letter almost after a year of first batch. though they selected together in acio exam, some ppl get advantage and some waste their one year while waiting for letter.
    is it true???
    if it is , on what basis they call candidates for training????

      ck.......You have got the right information. Training goes in batches an there are at times people waiting for their turn to come for training. It is done on the basis of your location. Say you get a place in UP like bareily or hardoi or meerut, If enough man resource is available then you may be sent directly for training after your joining. Unfortunately IB is running short of Man power and that is why they are into huge recrutiments. Apart from it Batch list is formed depending upon lot of other things.

    we get training first then final joining place.
    correct me if im wrong.
    cuz you said we could get joining first and then training depending on batch. but as i read last year guys comments they said they waited for training letter and sit at home till their turn came.

    i got info from a hyd guy who got verification last week.

      Dear Pirate,

      As per my information, I know a few personally who have joined in their locations without getting their training. He went to his training some 5-6 months after his joining. SO that is confirmed frm my side. But at times, people usually go directly for training, and after that only they get their first joining Locations....So it depends entirely upon your luck and the place you belong to. as if their will be urgent requirement for people, then they will be asking you to join first or else you will be going for training.

      process started feb 5th not much of work for them for my clearance since no siblings or no outside city stay for last 3 years...before feb end my papers were cleared and they dispatched my appointment order by 1st week of march received it on march 13th personally handed over to me by IB officials

      yur appointment order carries ur medical certificate which also prescribes the test to be taken preferably by govt hospital and has to be personally certified by govt doctors who is of Cheif medical officer rank...so all these u need to do before u leave for training

      Dear Sundar,

      all the posts r same but the difference is dat these are for different posts. It is like technical and non-technincal fields for which they have different pre-requisites. as an example there are people who work in field and there are others who track phones and do other technical things. Posts are of same level but in different departments. You may apply for technincal fields as you are an engg.

    at present i am working as a trainee in steel co. where i will become asst. manager soon, i prepared hard for ssc combined graduate level and in my preference list i opted for assistant in IB, grade pay is 4600/- which i do not know exactly about. coming to the nature of job, i have seen in the comments of mrunal.org that i will be posted to border area & that too for a period of 3-5 yrs, since i am the only son of my parents i want to take care of them too, and will i get any time for studies so that i can again apply for ssc cgl if i do not feel satisfied in IB.

      through SSC they recruit IB assistant which is a desk job and grade pay is high.
      whereas ACIO2 is field job and less pay.

      Difference between tech and executive is simple, tech people work in providing support things like IT work/ Mechanical work. It is purely an office Job where in Exec remain on field and have different fields like they take care of any of these things: Political/Law and Order/ Security/ VIPs/ Anti-terrorism/ Crime etc

      Secondly, Departmental exams are there. Even opportunity to work in abroad is there where salaries are exceptionally good. You can go to CRPF/RAW/SPG on deputation etc after passing the reqd exams

    1. When a ACIO-II gets deputation in supposing the CRPF, does he become a SI or still retains the same designation?
    2. Moving to a different topic, is the SI in CISF a better job than the ACIO-II? Where are the salaries and promotion aspects better? Or are they of the same level since both have the same grade pay of 4200/-.

      Hi Anamika, ACIO II can stay with family for almost all the parts of the country except J & K and North East places. Usually they are supposed to spend two tenures at Border area's in their entire career where families are not allowed...tenures are usually for 2-3years each time.

    IB exam is of 150 Marks
    100 Marks is of objective type.
    50 Marks is of essay writing.
    In essay writing they give you 3 general topics and ask you to write on any 1 of them for eg :(Corruption in India , space technology , left wing extremisim ... etc )
    In objective type they may ask any thing under the roof, so pls be prepared..

      well yes they will let you write in mains exam but you wont get much time to study if you join. if you read your memorandum its clearly written that promotion will be on basis of marks of qualifying written exam and interview and training performance.
      i think group A post is DCIO, which could take 8-15years depends on many things. yes SSC CGL IB assistant post is high grade post than ACIO and also its desk job.

    hi pushpak..really a fantabulous job by u..i am writting ACIO exam this sept15th..can u clear me some doubts regarding exam

    1)how many candidates appear for exam approximately.?
    2)what will be the expected cutoff every year.?
    3)what is the salary during training after training and how much salary we can expect at maximum level
    4)what are the various allowances provided
    5)if we r selected..is it compulsory to work in risky areas or they'll give an option to us..?

    please answer...not particular to pushpak anyone can answer

      there is no need to take any coaching jst be confident and answer calmely keep eyes on current senario and analysis with ur mind spectals so read like india today and try to know about yourself, write about urself and then analyse whether u have it or not , put ur originality but with confidence n u ll clear

    I am going to appear ACIO-ii/exe EXAM dis sept. I want to ask you that this job is purely a field job or desk job is also involved ? If totally field job how much risk is involved in work ? These guys work in team or all alone ? n finally how much is the in-hand salary ? Well i am much concerned about the risk factor involved but this job still fascinates me ?     i m working as a po in oriental bank of commerce and i have selected as an assistant comandent bsf in 2011 batch of which training is going to start tentatively by 3rd dec,
    and as an acio2 in 2012 batch so my query is that which one is best for opting as alifetyme career,
    and i was to join acio training by 2nd sep 2013 at shivpuri bur i failed to report there now i have written an application to shivpuri and assistant director/g new delhi to give a chance in next batch so whether they ll give me a second chance in next batch or not as your father is also asst director and which employer is better among three

      hello friend.....d answer of ur question is simply a no....people out there in d interview panel are very decent and gentleman....dey will b making u feeling like at home....ofcourse questions will b dere....mostly from current awareness....wat s happenning around d globe....secondly questions related to you like intoducing urself....n questions related to ur city...like places worth visiting or wass d thing which u r proud of about ur city.....Juzz remain confident....Iss afterall a test f ur aptitude/patience and a bit f knowledge as intelligence Job s not meant for everyone....U need to remain aware n conscious at all d times....like u should not sleep wen they make u wait outside for ur turn f interniew.....Keep dese things n d mind....n u will b easily through friend...Once u r done....share ur experiences here for our rest f d candidates who will b luking forward for ur experiences.....! ! ! !
